Parchment Craft

EASTER BASKET

Present your Easter treats in this beautiful basket. Why not use the label as a card topper too! The design can easily be adapted, why not change the topper and use to give a gift for a new baby? The design would work in blue too!

LABEL Trace

Step 1

• Place a piece of plain parchment paper over the pattern and with a white pencil, trace the oval, small circle and whiskers.

• With a black fine liner pen, trace the rabbit and colour in the blacks of the eyes.

Colour

Step 2

• Remove your work from the pattern, colour on the back with Polychromos pencils and blend with Dorso oil as follows:

Nose and inner ears - light purple pink Outer ears, face, eyelids and chin - cold grey III

Step 3

• Turn your work over and using sharp Polychromos pencils, add shading to the front as follows:

Inner ears and nose - fuchsia, blending with a little light purple pink

Face, chin, eyelids and outer ears - cold grey IV, blending with a little cold grey III

Emboss

Step 4

• With the Pergamano wheel embossing tool, emboss the whiskers.

• With a 4.5mm embossing tool, emboss the whites of the eyes and teeth.

Perforate/emboss

Step 5

• With the Pergamano mini semi-circle perforating tool, shallow perforate around the traced oval and inside the traced circle.

• With a 1.5mm embossing tool, emboss inside the semi-circle perforations.

• Re-perforate deeply with the mini semicircle perforating tool.

• With the PCA fine WIST perforating tool, perforate around the inside of the oval.

Cut

• With parchment scissors, cut between the outer semi-circle perforations.

Mount

Step 6

• Erase any visible white pencil lines.

• With an oval die, decorative edge scissors, straight scissors or craft knife (I used a Spellbinders Nestabilities deckled edge classic oval die), cut out an oval of grey card measuring 7x9cm.

• With one strand of pink embroidery thread, stitch the parchment to grey oval, through the WIST perforations.

• With a hole punch, punch a hole through the grey card, inside the perforated circle.

• Thread pink embroidery thread through the hole.

• Fix a second piece of oval pink card to the back of the label to hide the stitching.
