SPRINGTIME
This project consists of a card of two sections - an outer section of plain parchment, and an inner section of light green cut parchment. Layered together they make the perfect pair this spring!
OUTER SECTION Trace
• Secure a plain piece of white parchment to the pattern with low-tack tape, then with white pencil trace all elements except for the crocuses. Turn the parchment over.
Colour
• On the front of parchment, colour the crocuses in light red violet, light violet and a touch of white. Colour the leaves in juniper green, permanent green olive and ivory.
• Add fine detailing to the design by using felt tipped pens, mixed with a small amount of water and the Kolinsky paintbrush.
Emboss
• Turn the parchment over and emboss all elements, using an embossing tool.
• Emboss the lettering (I have used a groovi plate but you can choose your own type of lettering).
• Emboss the motifs in the four corners using multi grid No.13 (I have also drawn this on the pattern).
• Emboss the white work using the large and small ball embossing tools.
• Lightly emboss the crocuses and leaves with a variety of sized embossing tools.
Shallow perforate
• Shallow perforate over a thin perforating mat on the front of parchment.
• Shallow perforate the semi-circle perforations
Emboss
• Emboss semi-circle perforations as shown on the pattern.
Perforate (deep):
• Perforate the semi-circle perforations.
• Using a 2-needle perforating tool, perforate the areas between the white work flowers as shown on the diagram and along the outside edge of parchment.
• Perforate the area between the outer two circles using the diagonal grid.
Cutting
• Using parchment scissors or snips cut out the semi-circle and 2-needle perforations.
• Cut a piece of ice blue parchment to fit behind the two inner circles to bring out the whitework in the circle of leaves.
To finish
• Cut and fold a piece of white card.
• Cut a piece of light green parchment slightly larger than main section.
• Position the circular ice blue parchment behind the green parchment (on the white card), this brings out the whitework of your design.
• Assemble the layers and attach brads in the corners.
