Dynabook Portégé X30-F

-

It might sound like a blocked drains company, but Dynabook is the new brand for laptops from what used to be Toshiba. The Portégé X30-F is the new firm’s first laptop for Europe.

Dynabook is touting the Portégé X30-F as a business laptop and there’s a focus on connectivity and security, yet performance hasn’t been neglected with 8th Generation Intel Core processors and Intel Optane Memory.

For busy execs who need portability and fast boot, the 13.3in-screened Portégé leans on Windows 10 Modern Standby, which borrows much of its power model from smartphones. The laptop also has a “wake on fingerprint” feature for quick, secure access.

The Modern Standby PC standard uses any available network connection – Wi-Fi, mobile broadband or wired Ethernet – to remain always on and connected to the internet while using a low power draw to save battery. Part of that connectivity arsenal includes Wi-Fi 6, which is intended to improve performance in crowded areas such as conference centres.

The Portégé X30-F and the Tecra X40-F – launched on the same day – are sold as meeting business needs for security, which is handy because the Tecra in particular isn’t going to win any beauty contests. Dynabook says that in addition to its in-house developed BIOS and TPM 2.0, these models support features such as Secure Launch protection and System Management Mode protection.
