PC Pro

Readers’ poll

Windows 11 will be arriving soon – see our main feature on p26 for advice on how to prepare – but will PC Pro’s readers be upgrading?

-

The vast majority of our readers will at least consider stepping up to Windows 11 when it’s available – or further down the line. “It’s a fresh redesign of Windows, the sound scheme is polite and things seem logical so far. There’s the TPM 1.2 issue, but security is only to be encouraged,” wrote Mark Scott. Gary Wood agreed: “It’s important to keep up to date. It’s new and different, and why would I want to run an old version?”

However, other readers were more cautious. “Windows 11 looks interesting, but there really isn’t anything there that makes me think ‘I must upgrade!’” said Michael Oglesby. “The new user interface looks lovely, a much-needed update over the outdated look of Windows 8 and 10. The DirectStorage features looks interesting, but that’s coming to Windows 10 now. Unfortunately, my PC doesn’t have an NVMe drive, so I’ll have to wait for that as well.”

It doesn’t seem to be a true Windows 11, but more of a ‘Windows 10.5’ so it’s a nobrainer, like a service pack Ryan Thomas
