What’s new in v18
Upgrade to the latest version of 3CX and you can enjoy:
New 3CX client and desktop app
Windows users can choose between an improved web client and a native Windows Desktop App, eliminating the need for the browser extension. The new Desktop App uses the same Electron framework used by Teams and WhatsApp, integrating better with the OS for a more reliable user experience. The Desktop App allows you to answer a call from the page you’re working in (for example, your CRM) without having to switch between apps.
Improved mobile apps for seamless remote working
Whether you favour Android or Apple, update to the latest 3CX app for even better codec management; this will detect whether you’re on Wi-Fi, 3G or 4G and then choose the best codec available. The apps also offer improved reconnections in case of network changes or drops, while 3CX has collaborated with Apple and Google to improve reliability of PUSH notifications – so you won’t miss a call. And iOS users can now tell Siri to make calls using 3CX.
Single sign on (SSO) support
It’s now possible to log in to the web client using your Active Directory, Microsoft 365 or Google account. For example, local Active Directory accounts are supported through Microsoft’s free Azure AD Connect service.
Microsoft Teams integration
The Teams integration offers a cost-effective alternative to Microsoft 365’s Calling Plans. Via 3CX’s Teams SIP proxy, it provide a seamless unified calling experience both for 3CX users dialling Teams users and vice versa. Users can dial out via 3CX SIP trunks using low-cost domestic and international tariffs offered by
your SIP provider, which all means that businesses can cut costs while having a much more powerful PBX to boot.
Best voice engine yet
V18 has undergone extensive changes internally to improve audio quality, improve reconnection and strengthen security. For instance, it’s updated to Debian 10, upgraded to the latest .NET core, OpenSSL and Postgres and now has the latest ciphers. All this helped 3CX achieve an A+ on Qualys labs and an A on Immunilabs. Plus, the mobile apps and web client now use the G711 codec to reduce transcoding, resulting in less processor usage and better audio.
