THE USA’s in­fa­mous Pike’s Peak hill­climb turned into a man­u­fac­turer cock-joust this year, with KTM and Du­cati sup­port­ing po­ten­tial win­ners on the 12-mile course.

Du­cati’s lat­est Pike’s Peak Mul­tistrada was wheeled out again un­der three-times win­ner, ’muri­can Car­lin Dunne.

KTM won last year, with Chris Fill­more tak­ing a course record on a Su­per Duke. This year, he rode a 790 Duke in the Mid­dleweight class (which he won), with friend of PB Ren­nie Scays­brook lead­ing the Heavy­weight charge.

Scays­brook and Dunne were sep­a­rated by frac­tions through prac­tice, but on race day Dunne came out on top by just seven tenths. Scays­brook was gut­ted, the en­su­ing Aussie swearathon too blue to print, any­where...
