STOCK VS MODIFIED
BORED OUT, PEPPED UP
PB’s Poundstretcher project bike of 2002 proves what’s possible with engine work. The stock SV650 motor was bored out to 700cc by JHS Racing, and treated to an M4 full system, hot cams, aftermarket air filter and light flowing to the heads. The result was just over 13bhp extra peak power, and a very handy 3.5lb.ft hike in torque. The bill was still south of £2000, and propelled the humble 650 into 748-bashing territory.
