Sorted ZRX1100 and Franken­stein’s Street Triple are the best of our read­ers’ rides.

I BOUGHT THIS bike as a bog stan­dard ZRX1100 more than 17 years ago, with the in­ten­tion of bring­ing it with me on my move to Spain. I set to it and have been mod­i­fy­ing it over here ever since.

From front to back, I’ve up­dated the brakes with Nissin four-pis­ton calipers taken from an early Suzuki Ban­dit 1200, and boosted their per­for­mance a lit­tle fur­ther with the ad­di­tion of braided lines. The forks now have pro­gres­sive springs fit­ted.

The clocks are a re­cent fit­ment, and taken straight from a ZRX1200S. It also has a fresh set of Ren­thal han­dle­bars.

There are some changes in­side the en­gine, too. The mo­tor uses ZZ-R1100 camshafts, and a 4° ig­ni­tion ad­vancer. Also, the carbs are fit­ted with an Ivan’s jet kit. Fi­nally, at the rear of the bike, I’ve fit­ted a Sar­gent seat, LSL rearsets and a pair of YSS shock ab­sorbers to com­plete the per­for­mance up­grades.

Since I bought this I have bought and sold at least 12 other bikes (I also have a 2006 Aprilia Tuono 1000R now) but will never sell this.
