Heart wreath

-

Hearts are a symbol of love and joy, and what better time to have a heart wreath than at Christmas? This wreath may look complicated but I can assure you, it is not at all! The trick is to find a ready-made heartshaped wreath – try craft or home decorating stores, or florists. If you like hunting around fleamarkets and antiques fairs, you will find vintage wooden bobbins that need a new home. Craft stores are also a good source for new wooden bobbins for making and creating.

You will need:

● Selection of wooden bobbins in assorted sizes

● Ribbons and trims in assorted widths

● Scraps of decorative paper or giftwrap

● Heart-shaped wreath

● Scissors

● Fabric glue

● Hot glue gun

● White craft (PVA) glue

1 Using the ribbons, trims and papers, decorate all of the bobbins: wrap ribbon around the bobbins and secure with fabric glue or the hot glue gun. For an alternative look, use white craft (PVA) glue to stick scraps of decorative paper to the bobbins. Allow to dry.

2 Lay your wreath on a flat surface.

Use a hot glue gun to dab some glue onto the wreath and immediately press on a bobbin. Arrange the bobbins at different angles to create interest but also make sure that you can see the decorated part of the bobbin. Take care as the glue will be very hot.

3 Continue adding bobbins until you are happy with your wreath.

4 Choose a complementary ribbon and tie onto the top of the wreath for hanging. You can also tie a larger, decorative ribbon to the bottom of the heart.

5 Check each bobbin, making sure it is secure and no threads are left hanging. Now all that is left to do is find a place to hang it! ➤
