Introducing Sansho, a new home store that specialises in handcrafted Japanese products. Founded in 2017 by George and Kanako after they travelled through Japan, Sansho seeks to celebrate traditional Japanese design from lampshades handcrafted from washi paper and handturned wood, to cushions made with woven Kasuri fabric. ‘We like things that are made to be used in everyday life, but at the same time are beautiful, tactile and special,’ says George. The pair are passionate about the unique charm of handmade items and have centred their brand around the Japanese philosophy of ‘fukanzen no bi’, meaning ‘beauty of imperfection’, ‘which accepts that natural variety and irregularity combined with the maker’s character and humanity makes our world more fun,’ he adds.
