Classic and elegant, herringbone is the ideal choice for a statement floor that will stand the test of time. Its striking diagonal design is a great way to add character to a space, while its prestigious origins – it began life as bespoke flooring for French châteaux – means it instantly evokes feelings of luxury and sophistication. UK Flooring Direct’s new Home Choice herringbone engineered European oak flooring, £79.98 per m2, is a great option as it is easy to install thanks to its Diy-friendly click system, plus it’s available in seven shades, shown in Toffee. Pared-back style Chartwell, the new kitchen by Burbidge, is a classic design with an in-frame look. Painted solid ash Shaker doors are complemented with bronze ironmongery for a simple, sophisticated scheme that won’t blow the budget. Available made to measure, Chartwell is perfectly paired with pilasters, over-mantel and tongue-and-groove panels, and curved and glazed doors. Shown in Painted Bone and Soft Grey, from £9,500.
