Introducing La Basketry, an online boutique offering handwoven baskets and unique products for the home that celebrate Senegalese craftsmanship. Launched in 2017 by Tabara and her sister Mamy, the brand’s pieces are all handwoven by a group of female artisans the sisters met in a village outside their parents’ hometown of Thies in Senegal. ‘In Senegal, basket weaving is a tradition passed down through generations of women in rural villages. Travelling there as a child, and many times since, I’ve always found these artisans and their craft so joyful,’ says Tabara (left). ‘The dedication and community I felt watching them weaving with their children next to them, under a baobab tree, inspired me to launch La Basketry.’ Make the most of the September sun and head out for an alfresco lunch with this stylish picnic basket, £59.
