Nick Spink – second generation antiques dealer and owner of Into Vintage – tells us about his most treasured heirloom ‘I inherited this antique brass combination barrel letter lock marked Hobbs & Co, London, from my grandmother, Milly Meek. The condition of the inheritance was to crack its code. I remember every time we visited my grandparents’ house I would spend the whole time trying to unlock it. After six-and-a-half years, and thousands of combination attempts, I one day heard a satisfying click and the lock opened. I was duly rewarded. The challenge has now been passed down to my two children, who are yet to discover its secret.’
