ON THE BOOK SHELF
William Morris, designer, writer, socialist and a pioneer of the Arts and Crafts movement, died 125 years ago this month, and to mark the anniversary the V&A and Thames & Hudson have released an illustrated book documenting his multifaceted art, work and legacy. William Morris (£50, hardback), originally published in 1996 for the V&A’S Morris centenary exhibition, has been revived by Anna Mason with an updated and expanded edition, which includes chapters on his painting, stained glass, furniture, tiles and tableware. The book includes new discoveries and research, and aims to convey the originality and radical spirit of Morris and his peers.
