EMERY WALKER AND THE PRIVATE PRESS MOVEMENT

-

The Hammersmith home of Arts and Crafts figure Emery Walker – a printer, engraver and typographer – has opened its first ever exhibition, illustrating Walker’s revolutionary book-printing techniques. The display of his printing work includes some of the most beautiful private press books ever published, including pages from the Doves Bible and Kelmscott Chaucer, which was a collaboration with his friend William Morris and illustrated by Edward Burne-jones. Walker’s cosy home is believed to be the most authentic Arts and Crafts interior in Britain, and a visit to the new exhibition space in the drawing room is included in a guided tour of the house and riverside garden. Running until May 2022; pre-booking essential via emerywalker.org.uk.
