IT’S A WRAP

-

These gorgeous Turkish-inspired Hammam towels are the perfect cosy layer to throw over a sofa or to add colour to your bed. Super-soft, they look and feel like heavy cotton but, as with all Weaver Green’s products, are made from recycled plastic bottles. Stain-resistant, quick-drying and machine washable, a Hammam towel is a summer musthave for a trip to the beach or a picnic in the park. Featuring a simple diamond pattern with bold end stripes, the towels, £45 each, are available in eight muted colours and there are also cushions to match.

WOMEN’S COLLECTIVE

Daughters of Gaea is a new UK textiles studio that works with female-led artisan groups from around the world. Launched this year by Felicity Marshall, the brand’s mission is to create a global collective of fair-trade, ethically sourced pieces, using only natural and sustainable materials. Its debut collection is a stunning range of hand-block textiles printed in partnership with Tharangini Studios – Bangalore’s oldest handcraft textile studio. Founded in the 1970s, it’s a female-owned and family-run business that promotes gender equality, fair wages and profit-sharing, with the aim to pass on precious skills throughout the generations. The patterns are inspired by the beauty found in the natural world, with intricate floral prints hand-blocked onto silk and cotton canvas. When you buy from Daughters of Gaea, you are investing not only in a lifelong piece for your home, but you’ll also be helping to empower and support female workers out of poverty. Cushions, from £95; quilts, £320.

A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING

It’s hard to find the perfect bedside table, even when you’re an interior designer like Kate Guinness. So, with her team, she set about creating The Denyer bedside table, with the aim of producing a design that had adequate storage, looked good and was well proportioned. Inspired by Kate’s Irish heritage, they looked at the details found in Irish Georgian furniture, and decided to incorporate the teeth-like crenelated edge they discovered on many pieces. Featuring a deep drawer at the base, a shallow drawer at the top and a roomy shelf in the middle to house books, there is a place for all your bedside essentials. Made by hand in the UK in painted tulip wood (with optional handpainted dot detail) or matt waxed oak, £1,750.
