DREAM GARDEN

- Julie Woodward

As soon as my husband and I moved into our Peak District cottage, we set to work on renovating the garden (above). We levelled the area, cleared the patchy lawn and replaced the narrow, steep steps with a wider, safer design. We then divided the garden into three rooms. The first is cottage style with a stone wall, built by our son, and my husband built a gate which looks like a stile. We also made a feature out of the boiler house by making it look like a mini post office. The steps take you to the second part, which we turned into a woodland area, planting bluebells under the huge chestnut tree. We also added a hedge to separate it from the working part of the garden, which houses the shed and raised vegetable beds. It has been a delight watching the garden thrive this summer and we are looking forward to seeing it blossom again next year.
