THE JOY OF TICKING

-

If there is one fabric design that has stood the test of time, it’s ticking. Once used as a cover for mattresses, this densely woven material has been in production for over 1,000 years.

It’s evolved over the decades and is now more commonly used as a furnishing fabric for upholstery, curtains and blinds. British weaver Ian Mankin has been producing ticking since 1982, and this year the brand has introduced 34 fabulous new colours to the collection, offering an option to go with any interior scheme. The fabric is colour woven, made from dyed yarns, rather than printed stripes, which gives it a distinctive depth of colour and makes it more durable. Prices start at £32.50 per m.
