CELEBR ATING ANTIQUES

-

3-9 October marks the second BADA Week, an event launched to celebrate the diverse and outstanding community represented by the British Antique Dealers’ Association. Louise Phillips, chairperson and owner of Elaine Phillips Antiques, explains

The aim of BADA week is to highlight the benefit of visiting our members’ galleries, exhibition spaces and collections, with an exciting offering of events that can be attended throughout the country, either in person, or online. Many of our members choose to stage exhibitions exclusively for BADA Week, so it’s an opportunity to see unique and exceptional items of fine art and antiques, many new to the market and not previously put on public display.

Last year’s highlights included a guided tour of Wartski – jeweller to the Queen – which included its collection of antique works by the Imperial jeweller Carl Fabergé, and the presentation of an extremely rare James II rapier chest by English oak specialist Shaw Edwards Antiques.

Coming up this year, we are delighted that London’s leading folk art gallery Robert Young Antiques has a new gallery exhibition planned, and Ancient Greek, Roman and Egyptian art specialists Charles Ede will be taking part for the first time.
