Unlike laminate and ceramics, stone is natural and durable enough to last a lifetime. ‘As well as its strength, the sustainability of stone also depends on where and how it was quarried – any good retailer will be happy to share this information,’ says Oliver Webb, director at Cullifords. Local stone is always more sustainable than that from abroad, as it will require less CO2 emissions to transport it.
