Perth rider continues to make progress on track

Perth motorsport star Rory Skinner has gained another two points in the Red Bull Rookies Championship.

The 13-year-old is making steady progress and this latest performance in Brno, Czech Republic, has him edging ever closer to a top 10 finish.

It was a tale of two races for the Perth High School pupil after crashing out in the first lap of race one.

But he recovered in style the following day to cross the line in 14th position.

“I really enjoyed riding the Brno circuit, I think out of all the tracks I have ever ridden at this has to be one of my favourites,” said Rory.

“In qualifying I struggled to find a group of riders and finished 19th, only 0.8 seconds from 10th position.

“I was able to get a good start in race one but unfortunately when I tried to make another overtake entering turn two, I out-braked myself a little bit and clipped another rider, we both crashed out.

“Race two was better. I was again able to get a good start and I was in a group of riders battling for 10th position.

“A rider crashed in front of me and I had to slow down to avoid the incident, I was then in a group battling for 13th position. I was just pipped on the last corner on the last lap and finished 14th.”

The ambitious teenager has his sights set on becoming a MotoGP world champion.

And this weekend he returns to home soil to compete in the 2015 British MotoGP at Silverstone.
