Community gong presented to Sue
Rotary Club honour outstanding contribution
The Rotary Club of Perth has shown its appreciation to an advocate of architecture and social heritage.
The club awarded the Cairncross Trophy to Sue Hendry for her excellent record of service to the Perth community over many years.
The award, originally given by the late Jimmy Cairncross and first presented in 1983 to Perth Boys Club, goes every year to a person or organisation recognised as having made an outstanding contribution to their area.
Mrs Hendry has served on many voluntary and charitable organisations since she first came to the city in 1969.
These ranged from the Citizens Advice Bureau to assisting the recent Poppies display at Balhousie Castle, to serving as an Elder of St John’s Kirk where she is also secretary to the Friends of the Kirk.
However, the award is made primarily for her significant contribution to the heritage and fabric of the community across

She is also on the main programme board of Perth City of Culture bid.

In making the presentation Mr Robb highlighted the significant contribution made by Mrs Hendry in raising awareness of the local architectural and social heritage, as well as safeguarding and bringing back so much of historical value which may otherwise have been lost.
The trophy is awarded with a cheque for £250, which Mrs Hendry asked be paid to Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust to assist in its work.
