Alyth Church Morning worship in Alyth Church begins on Sunday at 11am. During term time, the Sunday school welcomes children to the front pews of the church each Sunday morning. A creche for under-threes is available during every Sunday morning service. The prayer group meets on Thursdays in Burnside Court lounge, at 10.30am. Choir rehearsal is every Friday at 6.45pm. Family history project Alyth Family History Project is open at Alyth Parish Church daily, from 2pm to 4pm. The archive includes thousands of photograph­s of people, events, schools, businesses, weddings, children, views, etc. Admission is free. Auchterard­er Bowling Club Lotto draw numbers this week numbers were 9, 12, 13 and 17. There were no winners, and prize money next week will be £610.

Bankfoot Church The service held in the church this Sunday, will be at the usual time of 11.15am, and will be conducted by the Very Rev Dr Jim Simpson. All very welcome.

Blair Atholl

Car boot sale Dunbarney Primary School’s parent council are holding a car boot sale in the school grounds tomorrow (Saturday), from 11am to 1pm. There will be lots of activities on offer including a bouncy castle, face painting, hair extensions, tombola and much more. Church news Dunbarney and Forgandenn­y Church services on Sunday, will take place at the usual times of 9.30am in Dunbarney church and 11am at Forgandenn­y church. Rev Allan Wilson will be leading the worship at both services. All welcome. Soup lunch The next monthly soup lunch will be held in the church hall on Wednesday, May 3, from 12pm to 1.30pm. Come along and enjoy homemade soup, cakes, chat and fellowship. Open to all and everyone will be made welcome. Women’s group The ladies would like to thank everyone who came along to their soup and sweet lunch on Saturday of last week. Thanks also to the ladies who made the soup and delicious desserts with £250 raised from the event.

Burrelton

Burrelton Church The service at Cargill Burrelton Parish Church on Sunday of last week was led by the Rev Stevie Thomson on the theme of forgivenes­s. Elders on duty were Gail Mackenzie and Alec Orr, with Sheena McNaughton as vestry elder. The Sunday school was led by Caroline McKay and the flowers were

organised by Pauline MacAskill. The refreshmen­ts after the service were provided by Ian and Aileen Riches.

Caputh

Church news The minister conducted the service in Caputh church on Sunday morning, with Janet Coyle, organist and Lorna Janssens reading the lessons. The usual service in Caputh church will be held on Sunday at 11.15am. The Guild committee thank all those who baked, helped in the kitchen and supported their coffee morning on Saturday, April 22, which realised £250 for funds. Christian Aid week This year Christian Aid week will begin on May 14. Beth Allan and Jeannie Paul will be happy to accept the contents of money boxes used by people to save throughout the year for this busy charity. Rural meeting The May meeting of the Rural will be held in Caputh church hall on Tuesday, at 7.15pm, when the competitio­n will be a single bloom in a vase.

Coupar Angus

Abbey Church The service on Sunday of last week was conducted by Rev Andy Graham and the readings were given by Irene Henderson. The first reading was taken from One Peter chapter one, verses 3-9 and the second was taken from John chapter 20, verses 19-31. The choir sang an introit ‘King of Kings, Majesty’. Rev Graham spoke about the events following Jesus’ resurrecti­on, when the disciples told Thomas that they had seen Jesus but he didn’t believe them. Thomas was prepared to take risks and ask questions which others were afraid to. The minister said that Jesus can come to us at any time, take away all of our fears and doubts and give us peace to live our lives in the way that he would have wanted us to. Austin Wilkie, organist, played Fugue in D Major, Rhinestone Cowboy to

mark Glen Campbell’s 81st birthday, Invention BWV 772 by J S Bach, and Recessiona­l Voluntary in D Major by T Pattison. The prayer group meet in the Abbey on Wednesdays, at 2pm. Bible study resumed in the Abbey on Wednesday of this week at 7.15pm and looked at Nehemiah chapter one. The deadline for the Isla Link will be Sunday, May 14. Communion will be celebrated in the Abbey on Sunday, at 11.15am and the kirk session will meet in the session room at 11am. The retiring collection after communion will be for the PKVAS charity, who support unpaid carers. The EPACTS group are holding a charity shop in George Street from May 14 to May 20. Further details can be obtained from Helen Pithie. The last lunch of the season in St Anne’s will take place on Tuesday, May 16, and is being held in aid of the CHAS charity. Entry cost £3, and people are encouraged to bring a raffle prize. The service at Abbey Church on Sunday will take place from 11.15am to 12.15pm. Joint service There will be a joint service held in Aberuthven Church on Sunday, at 11am, which will be conducted by the Rev James Aitchison. There will be no service in Dunning Church on that day. Anyone who requires a lift to the church or if you can provide a lift to others, please meet outside Dunning Church at 10.40am.

Errol Church Morning worship with children’s Sunday club will begin in the church on Sunday, at 11am,

and will be conducted by Rev John MacGregor. The Revive cafe will be held in the Ochil Room on Wednesday, May 3, from 1pm to 2.30pm, with choir practice held in the Sidlaw Room at 7pm. The vestry will be open to anyone who would like to speak to the minister on Thursday, May 4, and every Thursday until further notice from 10am to 11am. The Congregati­onal Board meets in the Ochil Room at 7pm and the next messy church will be in the Village Hall on Sunday, May 7, between 3pm and 4.30pm. Coffee morning Errol Horticultu­ral Associatio­n are holding their coffee morning in Errol Village Hall tomorrow (Saturday), from 10am to 12 noon. There will be a cake and candy stall, raffle and the summer programme will be able to be uplifted. All will be made very welcome and everyone is encouraged to come and support their local flower show.

Glenfarg

Beetle drive The Glenfarg branch of the Scottish Women’s Institute (SWI) are holding a beetle drive at Glenfarg Village Hall tonight (Friday), from 7.30pm to 10pm. Admission costs £3.50 and includes refreshmen­ts. Bingo M & M’s will host a bingo feast in Arngask Primary School Hall on Friday, May 5, eyes down at 7pm; doors open at 6.45pm. Books will be priced £1 each or six for £5 (10 games per book). Admission is free for anyone purchasing a bingo book. There will be various savoury delights on offer, along with cakes and biscuits served with tea, coffee and juice. Donations for the raffle should be dropped off at the school office.
