Football The Vale of Atholl FC league match was sponsored by R W Bell Building Services. It resulted in a win for Kettins - Kettins 5 Vale 0. The Vale team were: Walker, Clark, Taylor, Darabus, Berry, Robinson, Young, Gallagher, Millar, McLauchlan, Webster, McLeod and Thain.

Another woefully short squad which included the team manager and untried players resulted in the game falling to the league champions. Although second best by some way, Vale put in up a stuffy performance and the players who stood in put up a good show. Vale had the first chance when Darren Gallagher narrowly headed past from a corner. This was not the only chance that came Vale’s way, but unfortunately, none were taken. Even when one looked net bound, it was scooped clear from the line. Kettins as befitted the champions ran the game for the most part, scoring two goals before the break. Despite Vale’s central defensive pair, Taylor and Darabus had good games. But the home side scored another three goals in the second half for a convincing win, which showed why they are the champions this year. From being near or on top of the table at Christmas, Vale were having a trying time. They have had injury problems and generally a lack of numbers in most games since, especially over the last month or two. They will be looking to rectify the numbers and the form for the match this coming Saturday, when they play Ballinluig in the Birks Cup final in Aberfeldy with a 2pm start. Man of the match was Brian Taylor. Pitlochry Flower Club The club will next meet at Scotlands Hotel, Pitlochry on Wednesday, May 17, commencing at 2pm.
