Railway boxers in action

-

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Perth Railway Boxing Club with bouts taking place across the country.

Rising talent Luke Bibby was recently in action against Hayden Hill from Arbroath at their home show.

Hill, a boxer with more experience, proved a tough opponent but the Perth youngster secured the win.

Coach Stevie Petrie said:“From the start Luke moved in and out catching Hayden with some powerful left crosses which you could see were hurting him. In close it was 50/50 with both lads working well. Near the end of the second round Hayden was given a standing count to eight after another right/left from Luke.

“There was no doubt who the winner was at the end and Luke’s hand was rightly raised. At the end of the show Luke was awarded the best away boxer and Hayden the best home boxer, as it was the best bout that evening.”

Elsewhere at the club, Zack Fummey took to the ring in Kilmarnock against a powerful opponent in Willie Clark from the Hayfield Boxing Club, who had a record of seven wins and only two losses. Fummey battled well but, after a count of eight, the referee stopped the bout.

Petrie added:“With seconds to go in the last round Zack got caught with a peach of an uppercut and the referee gave him a count of eight, but Zack had not fully recovered and the ref stopped the bout.

“It looks like it is going to be a busy end to the season with clubs looking for some of our lads for their shows most weekends. Hopefully Zack, Luke, Liam Roy, Jamie Dewar and Taylor Neill will get a few more bouts and wins on their cards.”
