Luncarty edge the local derby

Double from Doig sinks Coupar

-

Coupar Angus ..... 1 Luncarty ............. 2 a fight, however, and they were awarded a penalty with 80 minutes clocked on the referee’s watch.

Tom Casey was the man tasked with the responsibility and he made no mistake in reducing the deficit, making for an exciting finish.

While Coupar pushed for a leveller, it wasn’t forthcoming and Luncarty held on to move their unbeaten run to 10 games.

Bleachers boss Jon Kelly said: “I was very pleased with Wednesday’s result as I knew it would be a sticky place to go.

“We lost Stuart Nicol early on in the game and had to shuffle the pack a bit but I thought the boys did this well.”

McConachie was left gutted that his side didn’t take anything away from the game.

He told the Perthshire Advertiser: “I was deeply disappointed to get nothing from a game in which, I felt, we matched our opponents for 90 minutes.

“All our players put in maximum effort and we were unfortunate with the decision for the second goal going against us, which was likely the turning point of the game.

“Our players showed good character though and continued to battle until the end with a goal their reward.”
