Latest Kinross hall bids heeds concerns
A developer has submitted a fresh application to convert the former Kinross Town Hall into nine flats which heeds calls for‘inappropriate’windows and doors installed by its last owner to be replaced.
The Kinross-shire Civic Trust (KCT) said it could not support Edinburgh MI Limited’s last bid to convert the B-listed buildings as it proposed to keep most of the uPVC windows and composite material doors that were installed by the late Simon Wilson.
The trust objected to last year’s application because it felt these “unauthorised works”should have been either regularised through retrospective planning applications or considered and addressed within Edinburgh MI Limited’s application.
However a design statement sent to Perth and Kinross Council with the latest application lodged earlier this month says the existing windows and doors will now be replaced with“more suitable” alternatives, which will go some way to appease the trust.
The design statement says:“It is the intention to replace all the windows with sympathetic traditional painted timber sash and case units with the exception of the town hall where the windows will be casement with a simple fenestration to reflect the original elevation and function to suit the residential nature of the development.
“The external doors are to be replaced with a more suitable painted timber panelled type and fixed fan lights above.”
The new application involves a change of some of the windows at the historic town hall
