Charity spells out way forward to raise funds

New CHAS campaign

- Rachel Clark

Backing the new CHAS campaign The Children’s Hospice Association Scotland has launched a new fundraising campaign in an effort to reach more families who could benefit from their care.

CHAS, who run Rachel House hospice in Kinross, have created a new ‘CHAS Alphabet’ as part of their new Keep the Joy Alive campaign.

It includes more than 60 brightly coloured letters designed by children who use their services. Each individual letter also has a unique story to go with it from its designer.

CHAS will now be sending out their colourful alphabet as stickers to their families and supporters, and is asking them to spell out their name on a luggage tag using these stickers.

The charity will then collect all these colourful name tags to create a display at an event later this year.

CHAS, who currently only reach a third of those who need their help, hope this will help them to double their income over the next five years.

Maria McGill, CHAS’s chief executive, said: “Sadly too many families are facing the heartbreak of losing a child without the support that only CHAS can give.

“We want to make sure that wherever there’s a child in Scotland with a life-shortening condition, we’re on hand to support their entire family. Of course to do that we need to increase our income. Our beautiful new CHAS alphabet will play a key part in helping us to achieve this goal.

“We’re rightly proud of our new alphabet - the children really were the best designers for the job and their creations perfectly capture who we are and the care we provide. Thanks to all the children for giving us a beautiful new look.”

The new alphabet will be available as stickers over the coming months.
