Rugby club tries for big things on and off pitch
Perthshire Rugby Club has set out big ambitions for the future, both on and off the field.
Bosses at the North Inch side have plans to boost training facilities and nurture the next generation to ensure that it continues to be a firm fixture for sport in the area.
At its recent AGM members were formally introduced to Perthshire Rugby’s 20:20 vision which lines up three years of development, starting in the late summer.
Speaking after the club AGM chief executive Allan Brown, said: “We’re an ambitious club. We’re fortunate to have very dedicated coaches, volunteers and players and strong support from the business community and as is now characteristic of our Club, our 20:20 vision is a bold plan.
“Over the next three years, Perthshire Rugby will be investing in our training facilities, business and community partnerships, clubhouse environment and rolling out a pioneering best practice approach in the delivery of amateur sport, the ‘Perthshire POD,’ an innovative approach to the management of the club’s team activities commencing next season.”
The club is keen to ensure that its arrangements for players of younger age continue to filter through to senior level, and potentially follow in the footsteps of the likes of James Fleming. The focus on grassroots level has already generated a thriving Mini section, from P1 to P7, a successful Midi section which culminated in the under 16 side bringing home the Caley Cup in April.
