Kind siblings team up to help sick kids

Sam and Olivia Currie A brother and sister put sibling rivalry to one side and teamedup to raise more than £500 for a children’s charity.
Sam and Olivia Currie set up a fundraising effort to raise money for kids who have to spend time at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.
The Perth primary school pupils set a target of £250.
But they smashed through that within days and have already raised £553 for the cause.
They asked people to sponsor them to run the 2km race at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival at the weekend.
Sam (12) explained: “We decided to run the race to raise money for the Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity because we know that it is a good cause.
“Our mum works at the hospital and sometimes we have to go in to see her, so we know how poorly some of the children are.
“Some children have to stay at the hospital for a long time and we wanted to raise some money to buy toys and books to help stop them getting too bored.”
Craigie Primary pupil Olivia (10) is delighted that they have smashed their target already and added: “We set a target of £250 and hoped that we would be able to get close to that amount.
“But we reached that within the first day and we cannot believe how generous people have been in supporting us.
“We have already gone past double that amount and we want to say a huge thank you to all the people who have donated so generously.
“We know that the money is going to a good cause and that it will make a difference to the children who have to spend time in the hospital.”
The duo sported their special ECHC T-shirts while taking part in last Saturday’s run at Holyrood Park with 340 other children.
P7 pupil Sam said: “It is good fun doing the run anyway, but it makes it even better knowing that you are doing something good for children who might be having a tough time.”
