Sing in the City aims to tap into your talents

-

Perth is to get its own ‘Sing in the City’ choir, joining a growing and popular organisation around Scotland.

The choir will come together for the first time on June 29 and anyone seeking to show off their talents or even just tap into their interest is invited to come along to the gathering in Perth’s North Church at 209 High Street.

Sing in the City was launched in 2010 and since then has enjoyed huge success in Edinburgh, Fife and West Lothian where its 11 choirs have 700 members.

Singing songs from the ‘60s to current chart hits, as well as some original material written by musical director and founder Kirsty Baird, organisers say there is something for everyone.

Kirsty said: “My aim is to provide a safe, welcoming and friendly environment where people can come together to sing, laugh, and make friends.”

And a spokesperson added: “What makes Sing in the City special is that it’s more than just a choir, members are involved in lots of social and charitable activities too.

“Choir members from across choirs regularly get together for events as diverse as a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, to pool nights, walks, cycles and not forgetting the traditional end of term pub nights.

“By pooling forces Sing in the City has raised a staggering £67K and supported numerous local charities - watch out you might find yourself not just getting better at singing but also joining in with a loony dook or an abseil from the Forth Bridge.”

Sing in the City’s other choirs have enjoyed sell-out shows and supported groups such as G4. There’s no audition and everyone is welcome, to book a free trial night e-mail hello.singinthecity@ choiredinburgh.co.uk.

Sing in the City plans to meet each Thursday from 7pm to 9pm at the church. More information is available at https:// choiredinburgh.co.uk/choirs.html Sing in the City is coming to Perth
