Green vests are on marathon outings

Perth club runners perform across the country

Perth Road Runners have been on a marathon mission this week.

Fair City club members descended on the Scottish capital for the Edinburgh Marathon Festival.

And, competing in the 10K event, Andrew Gellatly crossed the finish line in a time of 1:05:24.

On the Sunday, the EMF half marathon started at 8am, again in warm and sunny conditions.

Duncan Ryan was first green vest home in 1:21:44, followed by Richard Ward in 1:31:16, Terry Hislop 1:39:29 and Richard Hughes in 1:41:56.

Caroline Malloy gained a new personal best time of 2:16:17 while Alan and Rhona Watson completed their first half marathons in 2:10:33 and 2:27:05 respective­ly.

Also in action were Maria Dale, who clocked 2:05:03 and Sue Ternent 2:27:28. Simon Grieshaber paced his daughter around her first half marathon finishing in 2:15:46.

Fair City-based members at the Dunblane 12K Later that day three road runners with a new personal best time of lined up for the EMF marathon. 3:19:39, having also ran the 5K race Garry Smith finished in 3:20:42, the previous day in 20:31. Barry while Shona Ambrose gained her finished the 5K in 20:39 and the first sub four-hour marathon in marathon in 3:55:34. 3:57:53, with Kenneth G Stewart Elsewhere, eight road runners not far behind in 4:07:22. travelled to Dunblane for the hilly

Brian finished the marathon in a time of 53:59.

Roy Mitchell was the sole male road runner and finished in 55:20 and second in his age category.

Other Perth times were Fiona Angus 58:30, Natalie King 1:07:05, Nina Roberts 1:07:25, Stephane Reid 1:14:04, Elaine Burke 1:16:55 and Kate Marshall 1:21:40.

Further afield, Lorraine Macpherson was the sole green vest at the Mull of Kintyre 10K race. Lorraine finished first female vet in a fast time of 44:39.

The running weekend started with 32 road runners lining up in a record turnout of 286 runners for the weekly Perth Parkrun.

In very hot and sunny conditions, Michael McConnell was first across the line in 16:56, followed closely by Stuart Robertson in second in 17:32.

Gillian Edwards was first female road runner home in 22:49 while Catriona Liddell gained a new personal best time of 24:21.

Indulging in some parkrun tourism were Paul Grace, in St Andrews, and he finished 13th overall in 20:35. Caroline Hogarth finished Victoria Parkrun in 28:12 and Kirsty Johnston Colby, Wales in 35:24.
