More than 50 residents along with their friends, family and staff enjoyed a strawberry tea in the home’s Forteviot Lounge, along with two specially commissioned cakes to mark a quarter of a century since Princess Anne officially opened the home.

Helen Illingworth, Elsie Mackay and Eileen Brown, all residents at the Caledonia Housing Association’s care home, cut the cakes on the day.

The residents at the care home have spent the year fundraising for the Cornhill Macmillan unit in Perth, and managed to reach a bumper total at the strawberry tea celebrations.

Joanne Lawrie, the housing scheme’s manager, said:“Tenants have rallied together raising funds to support the Cornhill unit at Perth Royal Infirmary. In January, tenants started to raise funds by doing various tenant activities, from the weekly gentle exercise class to coffee afternoons and fish tea nights. This final event was a joint celebration for the 25th year of the flats opening and a strawberry tea to help them reach their target of £1000. The tenants raised £240 on the day, which was more than enough to hit the total.

“£1000 will go to the Cornhill unit at PRI and the remaining balance of £170 has started them off for the next chosen charity, the Scottish Charity Air Ambulance. The tenants hope to have another event soon to hand over the funds raised for the Cornhill unit.”
