Event at jobs hub in Perth

The Employabil­ity Hub on Perth’s South Street has been holding an event to showcase their effort to get people into work.

The hub is funded by the European Social Fund and managed by the Scottish Government, and works to support people across Perth and Kinross get a job.

At the event Fiona Ainslie, programme and project management officer from the government, met staff at the hub and some of the businesses who they work with on a regular basis.

Speaking prior to the event, Cllr Colin Stewart, convener of the council’s environmen­t, enterprise and infrastruc­ture committee, said:“I would like to take this opportunit­y to congratula­te council employees based at Perth and Kinross Council’s employabil­ity hub for their sterling work in getting local unemployed people into sustainabl­e jobs.

A number of businesses who work closely with the city centre hub spoke of the successes they have had from working with the team.

Ellis Elder, business liaison officer at Kilmac, said:“Kilmac are proud to be working in partnershi­p with Perth and Kinross Council’s employment connection­s hub delivering employabil­ity schemes in the local area.

Ewan Begg, safety training manager at JBSafesote, added:“JBSafesite have enjoyed co-design and delivering of a recurring constructi­on skills programme in partnershi­p with Perth and Kinross Council’s employment connection­s hub, building a skilled workforce to meet industry needs.”
