Single house bid is backed in just seconds
Seven objectors failed to raise concerns serious enough for councillors to take more than a few seconds to consider and approve an application to build a new house near Longforgan last week.
The council’s planning and development management committee took mere moments to decide to follow an official recommendation to approve Gregor Lawson’s application to construct a house within an estate west of the village known as The Snabs despite strong objections from locals.
One had said:“I object to the possibility of having another dwellinghouse erected in what is an already compact setting of eight properties within The Snabs.
“The estate already suffers from traffic congestion and inadequate provision of domestic water supply.
“The water pressure has historically been an issue and will only be exacerbated if another property is added to the supply.”
Addressing those concerns the council’s report of handling said: “Letters of representation have raised issues related to the water pressure in properties surrounding the site. The application is in principle and Scottish Water has no objection confirming there is sufficient capacity.
“It is considered that the addition of one dwelling to the group would not lead to a significant increase in traffic. Parking and turning could be provided within the site.”The application was approved without a single comment.
