Scone winners, from left, Stella Galea, Stuart Allison, Marcin Tycner and Erin O’Kane Scone Tennis Club players were in ace form to win the Tennis Tayside Centenary Challenge Cup competition.

The quartet of Stella Galea, Stuart Allison, Marcin Tycner and Erin O’Kane stormed to victory at the Gleneagles Arena.

They managed to hold off the challenge of West End, Montrose, St Andrews, Broughty Ferry, Dunning, Falkland, St Andrews University and Arbroath on an enjoyable day of gents, ladies and mixed doubles.

Tennis Tayside president Rhona Alston said:“On behalf of Tennis Tayside I would like to extend the most sincere and heartfelt thanks for allowing us to use the wonderful premises at Gleneagles.

“We had the loveliest of days with happy and very capable coach Jonny Adamson. He was super efficient and everyone had lots of good tennis.

“It was also a nice social event with lots of table tennis and snooker during break times. Jonny kept it all going and the formula for nine teams worked perfectly.

“It really did come down to a few games and the mixed doubles in the end.”

Meanwhile, Scone members will be making use of the indoor courts at Gleneagles when league and social tennis gets underway this month.

The club is now on to its winter membership rate with all fees at half-price for any new member.

Scone will be holding its AGM on November 5 at 1pm, along with its presentation of club championship trophies.
