Aaron’s hoping to get the nod again

-

St Johnstone defender Aaron Comrie hopes his recent performances can lead to a prolonged run in the team. The 20-year-old started for the third consecutive game on Saturday as Saints suffered a cruel loss against Hearts. Comrie is eager to prove his worth as Ross County visit McDiarmid Park for Scottish Premiership action tonight. Richard Foster returns from suspension for Saints but Comrie said:“I have been patient and I knew the chance would come. “I want to do the best I can and play more games. “At the end of the day it is the manager’s decision but hopefully I have done well enough to stay in the team.

“Richard is back from suspension so he could come in but if he doesn’t I will again give everything.

“Everyone works really hard and tries to prove a point. It is hard to get into a first team. When you do, you need to take it.

“Confidence is massive, especially as a young player. The manager is always encouraging me to do well.”

The weekend defeat in Edinburgh was a tough one to take for Comrie and Co, who defended well throughout.

“Overall it was a decent team performance and there wasn’t much in the game,”Comrie said.“The goal was very unlucky.

“Between both sides there weren’t many chances. I think a 0-0 would

high energy football. We have to stop the crosses coming in and win first and second balls.”

Reflecting on Saturday’s defeat against Hearts, Davidson added:“It was a poor game and there wasn’t much happening. It looked like a 0-0 but they got a lucky goal.

“We have had three really hard games against Aberdeen and Hearts away and Rangers at home.

“But we need to ask more questions of defenders.

“This is another tough game but you have to target it as one to win.”
