Migrants invitedto future prospects event
Migrants and those from an ethnic minority background in Perth and Kinross will be able to attend an employability event this weekend.
Run by PKAVS’ minority communities hub, the Future Prospects event will take place from 10.30am until 1pm on Saturday, November 25 at the North Inch Community Campus in Perth.
The event will have information targeted specifically at people from migrant and ethnic minority communities, with advice on financial wellbeing, where to access English language classes, career options and how to set up your own business, amongst others.
There will also be four different workshops throughout the day, including on Brexit by the ethnic minorities law centre, employment law by the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, volunteering by PKAVS third sector and volunteering hub, and a guide to the recruitment process at Perth and Kinross Council by the local authority’s human resources team.
A spokesperson for PKAVS said: “PKAVS minority communities hub aims to give the expanding migrant and minority ethnic population in Perth and Kinross the support to play a full and active role in their communities while helping statutory and voluntary service providers to respond more effectively to their needs.
“By organising this annual event we hope to connect people from ethnic minority groups to appropriate opportunities to improve their employability through education, training, experience and information.
“It also offers scope for direct engagement between employers and members of migrant and ethnic minority communities who are looking for work.”
