Fun runners hit the road to see in the new year
Runners get set to begin the race Blairgowrie welcomed in 2018 with their annual New Year’s Day Fun Run andWalk.
More than 400 competitors from across the UK lined-up in the streets of the Perthshire town for the January winter-warmer.
The 3.8-mile men’s race was won by Euan Rose from Glasgow University in a time of 20 minutes 47 seconds.
Robert Harrison from Rattray, a member of Monifieth Triathlon Club, claimed second in a time of 21 minutes 38 seconds.
And in third place was Fraser Matthews from Blairgowrie - the winner of the boys race last year - who finished in a time of 22 minutes 27 seconds.
In the ladies’race, the winner was Chantel Clark from Dundee, who completed the route in a time of 25 minutes and 25 seconds.
Second place went to Kirsty Reynolds (26:26) while Amy Mollison (27:23) crossed the line in third.
Ross Matthews took home the boys’title after clocking 26 minutes 35 seconds and, in the girls race, Emily Gilmore from Blairgowrie ran 36 minutes 25 seconds to win the race for the second year running.
A number of running clubs were represented at the event, including Perth Road Runners, Dundee Road Runners, Dundee Hawkhill Harriers, Forfar Road Runners, Fife Athletics Club, Perth Triathlon Club, Five Star Active, Vegan Runners UK, Falkland Trail Runners and Dunblane Runners.
