Support for PKAVS

- Rachel Clark

PKAVS’ Paul Graham and Andy Chan. The charity’s carers’ support work has been given a boost A Perthshire charity is looking to offer short breaks to carers after receiving a funding boost.

PKAVS’ carers’ hub has secured funding from Shared Care Scotland and Perth and Kinross Council to be able to continue its ‘Time4Me’ fund, which helps eligible unpaid carers have a short break from their often demanding caring responsibilities.

The organisation is now encouraging carers who want to get involved to apply for help from ‘Time4Me’.

A spokesperson for the charity’s carers’ hub, said: “As everyone heads back to work after their relaxing Christmas and New Year breaks for many unpaid carers this time of year can prove more demanding as carers try to balance the hustle and bustle of the holiday period with their caring responsibilities.

“Time4Me offers carers the freedom and creativity to choose what you want to do, when you want to do it and with whom you want to do it with. Directing your own support is key.

“Funding can be used to pay for a break away with or without the person you care for, a piece of equipment that will help you pursue a hobby, dance class fees, a football season ticket or a relaxing spa day with a friend. The possibilities are endless.”

All carers who are interested in finding out more are asked to read the guidance notes and eligibility criteria and complete an application form online.
