Popular walking route gets £40,000 upgrade
A popular walking path has been reopened after an extensive renovation.
More than £40,000 of upgrades have been carried out on the ancient Coronation Road park at Northlees leading to Deuchny Woods, including over 380 metres of path resurfacing, 600 metres squared of gorse cleared, and over 480 metres of fencing installed.
The upgrade works near Kinfauns also included clearing drains and fitting culverts to help keep the path dry and usable for walkers.
This comes after a funding boost from the SUEZ CommunitiesTrust.
Morag Watson, manager of Perth and Kinross Countryside Trust, said:“The views of the rolling countryside and across the Tay from this section of path are amazing, and it was such a shame that they were so obstructed by gorse.
“The new path improvement works included cutting back the encroaching plants, sorting out drainage and laying a surfaced path that will allow walkers to better admire the views without having to dodge thorny bushes or mind muddy bits underfoot.”
Bid Strachan, the trust’s communities officer and manager of the Coronation Road project, added:“We want to thank the landowners again for working with us to improve the path. Fencing and signage have been installed along this 380 metre section of path to help mitigate sheep worrying by dogs, which they have had problems with over many years.”
