Perth and Kinross Council anticipates it won’t spend almost £2.4 million of its last revenue budget, according to the latest report by its finance chiefs.
The local authority’s latest 2017/18 revenue budget monitoring report, written by its chief accountant, Scott Walker, says three of its four main services were projected to underspend their allotted budgets by the end of March.
The council’s education and children’s services department was expected not to spend around £1.33 million of its near £160 million budget while its housing department was similarly expected not to spend around £817,000 of its near £18.5 million budget.
The council’s corporate and democratic services department, meanwhile, was expected not to spend another £266,000 of its near £18 million budget.
With its environment service expected to spend an extra £58,000, the council anticipates its total net projected underspend will be £2.355 million.
According to Mr Walker’s report the projected underspend, said to represent just 0.88 per cent of the council’s total net service expenditure, will be used for other purposes in 2018/19.
