Chance to quiz doctors on Carse surgery

- Ross Gardiner

The Carse of Gowrie medical practice in St Madoes is holding a question and answer session with doctors over the future of the facility tonight (Tuesday, April 17).

It was announced this month that the Errol practice will temporarily move to the St Madoes facility at the end of April as another site could not be found in time.

Patients have been relocated to the already temporary practice in St Madoes, which was itself deemed unsuitable for use last autumn and earmarked for closure.

Plans for a new temporary surgery on the Errol to Grange road were withdrawn after complaints from local residents, however a better suited location is being looked at.

Until then, Carse residents with queries over the healthcare situation can speak to doctors in St Madoes tonight from 5-7pm at a drop-in session they are hosting.

Carse councillor Alasdair Bailey said of the temporary move to St Madoes:“I understand that the previous planning application for a temporary surgery was withdrawn due to a glitch in the location of the vehicle exit on to the public road.

“I’m assured that a new application is on its way which will address that concern and I look forward to that temporary surgery coming to fruition.

“It is unfortunate that the doctors will need to squeeze in to the St Madoes branch surgery for a short period in the meantime but I’m thankful that the service will be continued, albeit a little further outwith Errol than was originally planned.

“For the longer term, I welcome the news that there will be a public consultation on the location and style of the future permanent surgery for the Carse.”
