Festival of Museums stops in Shire
Scotland’s Festival of Museums is returning for its most fun-filled celebration ever, with three events in Perthshire.
From May 18-20, the festival will feature over 100 incredible events across the length and breadth of Scotland.
Created and co-ordinated by Museums Galleries Scotland, Festival of Museums encourages Scotland’s museums to provide visitors with the opportunity to enjoy exciting, entertaining and surprising events, day or night at museums and galleries over one weekend.
There is a range of events for all ages and interests taking place in the Perth and Kinross area, including:
• Dino Night: Museum Late, Perth Museum and Art Gallery, May 19 – an after-hours dinosaur themed event for grown-ups. Visitors can take part in fossil digs and a silent disco and enjoy a headline performance from Adventure Circus.
• We’re going on a Dinosaur Hunt!, Perth Museum and Art gallery, May 19 – a family fun day where visitors will become Dinosaur Hunters– solving puzzles and activities along the museum’s dinosaur trail.
• Jacobites and Redcoats: Battle for the Highlands, Black Watch Castle and Museum, 19 May – a family event featuring historical re-enactment and the chance to channel your inner ‘Outlander’by dressing up in soldiers’ uniforms and crafting your own sword and shield.
Sarah Burry-Hayes, Marketing Manager at Museums Galleries Scotland, said:“The programme for the 2018 Festival of Museums is bursting with fun events that spark the imagination and celebrate culture.
“Museums and galleries in Perth and Kinross have planned a range of incredible events that will inspire local people to experience Scotland’s history, art and culture in interactive, unexpected and hands-on ways.”
