Perth artist Frank To will be giving a talk next month on his journey from rejection to success.
Frank To, known as the “gunpowder artist”, is currently exhibiting ‘Encounter’ at Perth Museum and Art Gallery, and has just enjoyed a residency at the city centre landmark during last month’s Platform Festival.
Now he will be leading fans through his self-discovery of art and how he developed his gunpowder art techniques.
A spokesperson for the event said: “Hear the story of ‘gunpowder artist’ Frank To and the unusual route he took from rejection to success.
“Frank takes you on the journey of self-discovery his study of art and his career took him on - rejected from Glasgow School of Art and unsupported at school before he found his way. Find out about the concept he practiced while travelling on a ‘grand tour’ in Europe, where he intensively studied the master works of Europe’s greatest museums.
“Learn more about the development of his drawing technique into the gunpowder artworks for which he is best known.”
The talk will take place on Friday, May 4 from 1.30pm at Perth Museum and Art Gallery. Entry free, but places can be reserved online via EventBrite.
