Kinross event will be simply soup-er
There is a soup-making workshop at Loch Leven Community Campus on Wednesday, April 25, at 6.30pm.
The event is being hosted by the Kinross Weightwatchers Club as part of the Glenfarg and Kinrossshire Zero Waste Challenge.
During the workshop Jenny Thomson of Courses for Cooks will create several low-cost but nutritious soups which include ingredients that are often discarded at the back of the fridge.
At the end of the workshop everyone will be able to taste the soups and take home copies of their favourite recipes.
Organisers said onethird of the average Perth and Kinross householder’s general waste bin contains food waste, most of which is still edible.
This workshop will show how to make the most of available ingredients, eat healthily and save money on food bills.
Everyone is welcome to attend this free event, not just Weightwatchers members. They should take an empty mug or flask so that they can sample the soups.
There are various events and activities taking place as part of the six-week Zero Waste Challenge which include a smoothie and juice-making workshop and a competition for receipes which use up leftovers and are inspired by regional ingredients.
