Youth Theatre stars, front, Sasha and Henry Clark. Back, Morgan Maxwell, Callum Warren, Molly Proctor and Oliver Dolan Young people will have their moment in the spotlight this summer as part of Horsecross Arts’ new season.

Their summer brochure reveals how Perth Theatre will throw open its doors for a ‘Youth Take Over Day’ in June, as part of Perth’s Diverse CiTay Festival for the Year of Young People.

The arts festival will showcase acting, singing, dancing and musical skills being perfected by Perthshire young people heading for the top of their game.

And Perth Dance Festival’s The Great Big Dance Show is in Perth Concert Hall in two weeks’ time, on May 6.

There’s something for the not-soyoung in the brochure too - a bit of quality nostalgia in the form of The Carpenters Story (May 2) and the king of ‘80s pop is honoured in The Michael Jackson HIStory Show (June 1).

Returning for its 47th year, Perth Festival of the Arts (May 17-26) is looking forward to bringing household names Jools Holland, Ruby Wax and English Touring Opera to the Fair City next month.

Meanwhile local and professional dancers hit the stage in Remembering Fred (May 4) which brings Strictly Come Dancing stars Aljaz and Janette to the concert hall, and there’s An Audience with Ian Waite and Oti Mabuse on June 7.

Perth Theatre company will take A Six Inch Layer of Topsoil and the Fact it Rains to rural venues across Perth and Kinross in May.

Horsecross has Graham Nash, Steve Earle, Iris DeMent, Rodney Crowell and Gretchen Peters headlining at Perth’s Southern Fried Festival in July.

Comedy gold to look forward to includes Perth’s Fred MacAulay, Ed Byrne, Joe Lycett, Jason Manford and Sarah Millican.

Finally all those Fair City little ones will love Animals (May 4), a family show in Perth Theatre’s Joan Knight Studio. And the spooky Baba Yaga, a powerful Russian folktale, is brought bang up to date on May 9.
