Craigie Hill Fest set for success

- Rachel Clark

Co- organisers Pauline Harrier and Ali Pibworth are looking forward to the Craigie Hill Fest Music fans are in for a treat when the popular Craigie Hill Fest returns for a third year.

Taking place at Craigie Hill Golf Club on Saturday, August 25, the annual festival already has a number of local bands lined up to take to the stage.

Pauline Harrier, who runs the clubhouse at Craigie Hill, said their headline act for this year will be Perth’s very own Rude Boys, who have reunited specially for the gig.

She also said the music will be split between an outdoor main stage in the golf club’s car park and inside the club house itself.

Pauline explained: “This year’s headliners are the Rude Boys, who had a hit in the early ‘80s with the song Uruguay. This will be their first gig since 1982. They are from Perth so they will be the main act and they will be supported by the Red Pine Timber Company, but we will also have The Sandemans, Purple Felts, The Revivals, The Cascades, and The First Ladies of Country.

“That is all I am allowed to give away just now, but there may be a couple of surprises up our sleeves.”

As well as the music offering the club is also planning on having a number of stalls set up alongside the main stage, with a range of food and drink on offer, including a special signature cocktail in a nod to the nearby Buckie Braes.

Pauline continued: “Ruby the Campervan was really popular last year, so she is definitely on again this year. The campervan will have prosecco and gin on offer as well as the signature cocktail Buckie Braes, which is made mainly from Buckfast.

“Jim Fairlie’s food emporium will also be set up and a range of local real ales will be available too.

“I can’t wait for it, it is always such a good day. The music on the main stage will go on until 10pm, and then we will adjourn to the clubhouse for the remaining acts which will be Purple Felts after dark.

“We are hoping for some higher numbers this year. We started out with a couple of hundred, and last year we have 500 people at the music festival.’’

Tickets cost £28.50 and are available from Friday, June 22, although a handful of remaining early-bird tickets are still available for £23.50. Under 14s will be free.
