Police Scotland’s Tayside division is looking to hire a number of special constables.

Special constables are part-time volunteer officers who work alongside regular police officers around the community.

The police division will be holding two intakes for recruits in June and August this year.

A spokesperson for the police said:“A special constable is a part-time, volunteer officer who has the same powers as a police officer. They work alongside regular officers, patrol the street, police public events including football matches and demonstrations to prevent crime and interact with all sections of the community.

“Tayside division is actively recruiting special constables. There are two further intakes this year in June and August.

“Candidates interested in becoming a special constable should submit their applications as soon as possible via the Police Scotland website/recruitment.”

Those interested in recruiting will need to attend a fitness test and standard entrance test on Monday, May 21 at the Baluniefield Police Station in Dundee, followed by an interview on Wednesday, June 6.

Anyone looking to take part can contact PC Lynn Steele, recruitment constable on Policerecruitment aberdeen@scotland.pnn.police.uk or by calling 01224 306667.
