Green vests show their true colours

Perth Road Runners have been taking on parkruns across the globe.

Forty-six green vests lined up at Perth Parkrun at the weekend with Michael Carroll first home for the club and second overall in 16:29.

He was followed by Michael McConnell in 16:56, Stuart Robertson in 17:20 and David Knight in 17:23.

For the ladies it was Lorraine MacPherson who was once again first home for the club in 21:20.

Fabienne Thompson in 21:45, Gillian Edwards in 23:04 and Natalie King in 24:04 followed shortly after.

Elsewhere, Mark Dunn took to Ruchill Parkrun, completing the course in 19:35 and coming fourth overall.

The Ayr Parkrun welcomed Gillian Smith where she crossed the line as sixth female in a time of 28:44.

In Ormskirk, Paul Grace and Daile Sipple ran the local 5k Saturday route finishing in 21:17 and 25:09 respective­ly.

Over in Dunfermlin­e Rachel Roberts completed their parkrun in 28:01.

And, down under at Albert Parkrun in

Perth runners at the Hill Series race at Newtyle Melbourne, Jamie Briggs ran their 5k Then, in the afternoon, they route in 23:12. completed the Aonach Mor Uphill Race,

Travelling to Fort William were Fiona which finished in the snow alongside Manson and Mike Dale, who took on a one of the ski runs. double challenge. Mike managed to complete the climb

In the morning they ran the local in 41.40 to claim 32nd position and parkrun, with Mike coming in 20th in Fiona ran 46.30 to finish 40th. 26.23 and Fiona 22nd in 26.50. A total of eight runners completed the challenge to run both races in the same day.

Wednesday saw the second of the Hill Series for the club, held at Newtyle.

Stuart Robertson crossed the line third overall with a sprint finish in 33:38, earning him the first M40 position.

He was followed by James Fotheringh­am in 35:34 who also gained a first in his M50 category.

Ronnie Glen was next in 40:07 followed by Mark Dunn in 40:21, Derek McIntosh in 42:01, Mike Dales in 42:52, David Sinclair in 43:39 and Brian Jenkins in 49:34.

For the ladies, Lisa Aikman was first home and third woman overall in 44:18. She was followed by Fiona Manson in 45:29 and Stephane Reid in 49:32.

On Sunday Peter Ritchie completed the Buckie 10k race in a time of 56:28.

Sunday also saw Neil Muir run the Tufty Trail Race. He finished in sixth position overall and first M55 in a time of 40:58.

On Monday Brian Galletly ran the Boston Marathon.

He was met with a downpour of freezing rain and an intense headwind but successful­ly crossed the line in 3:35:58.
